Ann Matthews
Ann joined the Special Education Department team as a Speech and Language Pathologist in January 2021. As a new member of the itinerant staff and special education team, she is involved in the school-based assessment, consultations, supervision of treatment and program setting for students, in Grade SK-12, with communication difficulties relating to language, mild to moderate speech delay and specific speech disorders.
Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Ann has many years of experience in the field of paediatric speech and language therapy. Her work experience has been within schools for children with special educational needs as well as private practice within mainstream schools. Her own love and enjoyment of language and reading followed her to the Reading and Language Gym, a centre in Cape Town for school-aged children who have challenges with language, reading and spelling. She worked closely with a team of speech pathologists and gained valuable insight and experience in this field. Ann is excited about the new journey ahead with the RCDSB, and hopes to add value to the team.
